Heysen Sculpture Biennial 2019

The Heysen Sculpture Biennial invites sculptors to engage with the landscape of Han Heysen's property in Handorf, Adelaide Hills, South Australia. San

The Heysen Sculpture Biennial is open to the public throughout the Adelaide Festival.

The area allocated for Santin's work was Hans Heysen's old apple orchard which often appeared as a backdrop in his paintings. Using small cable ties, the disused orchard netting was strung to available branches as anchor points.

Two different types of orchard netting sourced from D'Arenberg Winery, McLaren Vale.

This scene was often painted by Hans Heysen. The recyled orchard netting hovers throughout the apple orchard referencing a memory of times or moments past. For Santin, the opportunity to walk through spaces where Hans Heysen had once walked informed the installation.
